November News (prayer letter)

Hi everyone,

The above photo is from October’s English Cafe. As you can see, we were few in number this time (the weather’s been a bit “typhoony” lately) but we had a good time. I appreciate your continuing prayers for my English ministry, as we continue to make connections and point people to Jesus.

In other news, I broke a toe last week. It’s a minor injury, but is definitely slowing me down a bit. I’d appreciate your prayers for a quick recovery, especially as I’ve got lots of travelling ahead of me in November and December.

Here are some other prayer points for November:

  • Our new GP regional director Tim Gallant and his family are visiting Japan (11/10-16). Please pray for us as we talk about the future of our mission in Japan and meet with our partners here.
  • 11/8 — Worship leading in Nagoya
  • 11/19 — English Bible study in Nagoya
  • 11/26 — English Bible study in Kyoto
  • Also, please pray for me as I prep for the busy Christmas ministry season.

Thank you as always for your prayers and support!

August Adventures & September Schemes (prayer letter)

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a great summer in your part of the world!

The first weekend in August, I visited Hiroshima, along with some friends from Nagoya. We enjoyed a full day of ministry and fellowship with the Immanuel Hiroshima Church. I preached in the morning, and in the afternoon my friends and I did a mini-concert and testimony time. It’s a lot more work getting a group of people together, practicing and prepping; but it was fun having friends along for the ride, and we could do more together than I could have alone. I’m thankful for God’s protection, direction and blessing on our trip.

The day after my return from Hiroshima, I left for youth camp in Nagano, where I played on the worship team. It’s always great seeing such a large group of Japanese teens worshiping Jesus together. Imagine the impact they could have on Japan if they really let Jesus get ahold of their lives. Let’s pray that they will!

Here are some dates and prayer points to keep in mind as we begin September. There are a lot!

    • 9/1 — English Cafe
    • 9/9 — Hiking ministry
    • 9/17 — English Bible Study
    • 9/20 — Leading worship at prayer meeting
    • 9/24 — Preaching & English Bible study in Kyoto
    • Pray for clarity of vision for GP in Japan, and my role in our mission moving forward.
    • Pray for direction about some possible changes in my English ministry at the end of the year.
    • Pray for a peaceful resolution to the hostilities in this region involving North Korea.
    • Pray for God to call and equip more missionaries to Japan.

Thank you for your continuing prayers and support! Your partnership in our mission here is much needed and appreciated!

– Robin

Summer Adventures Continue (August 2017 Prayer Letter)

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your prayers this past month! This month’s adventures took me to kids camp, Kyoto and Cambodia!

We had 24 kids come to my church’s two-day kids camp this year. Most of these kids are from unchurched families, and many first connected with our church through my English classes, so it’s awesome to see them coming to church events and hearing the Gospel. Please pray that God will continue to work in the lives of these kids and their families.

The day after kids camp, I was off to Kyoto, where I taught an English Bible study at Immanuel Kyoto-Nishi Church. I’m filling in there every other month while their resident missionary Andrea is back in the US for partnership development. There are a bunch of non-Christians connecting with the church through this ministry, and they haven’t stopped coming just because Andrea is away. Pray that God will continue to work in their lives as well.

This past week, I was in Cambodia for the GP Asia area retreat. It was great to connect with fellow missionaries to worship, pray and learn together. This year we focused on gaining vision clarity. This is an ongoing process, particularly here in Japan, where we have a small team but big dreams. Please continue to pray with us for vision and direction.

Here are some other dates to keep in prayer about:

  • 8/4 – English Cafe (Nagoya)
  • 8/6 – Preaching & music ministry in Hiroshima
  • 8/8-11 – Youth camp in Nagano
  • 8/20 – English Bible study (Nagoya)

Thanks again for your prayers, financial support and encouragement!

– Robin

June Prayer Letter

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your prayers this past month. It was a busy one, with lots of travel, meetings, and a couple of preaching opportunities. I’m thankful for God’s protection and guidance.

The photo above is from my visit to the Immanuel Church in Nirayama, where I preached and led worship in English with the help of an interpreter. It’s a very small church, as you can see, but on the day of my visit there were six guests. One of the pastors told me by email later that two young girls who were visiting that day were showing an interest to putting their faith in Jesus. Please pray for these two girls and for the pastors as they follow up with them.

I’d appreciate your prayers as we enter the summer months. Here are some things going on in June you can pray for:

  • 6/2 — English Cafe
  • 6/3 — Hiking ministry
  • 6/14 — Leading worship
  • 6/18 AM — Preaching in Nagoya
  • 6/18 PM — English Bible study

Again, thank you so much for your prayers and support!

– Robin
